Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Men's Basketball hosted No. 18-ranked Faulkner (Ala.) in Gillis Gym on Saturday afternoon.
The Barons (2-25, 1-14 SSAC) fought hard in a battle against the Eagles (21-5, 13-3 SSAC) but were outlasted down the stretch, 74-64. Despite the loss, it was a special day as the men's basketball program honored student-assistant Kendall Merthie for his contributions to the program as a former player and now as a coach.
How It Happened
Brewton-Parker opened the game with a 9-2 lead in the opening two and a half minutes of play. Faulkner responded with 15 unanswered points to lead by six points with 13:47 remaining in the half. The Barons found themselves level again with the Eagles as Chance Hatcher notched six points to equalize at 17-17, with eight minutes to play.
Both teams traded scores for the remainder of the half with Faulkner holding the advantage for most of the remaining time on the clock. There were several opportunities for the Barons to reclaim the lead, but they could not break past a level score. Faulkner closed out the half with a 34-31 lead.
The Barons outscored the Eagles 7-4 in the opening minutes of the second half to level the score twice, but Faulkner remained in control for the remainder of the game. With 13:02 on the clock, Faulkner boosted to an 11-point lead, but the Barons did not give up. BPC slowly started to connect on shots while limiting Faulkner to pull the deficit down to just four points with just under nine minutes left to play.
Momentum shifted as Faulkner quickly advanced to a double-digit lead over the Barons. The Eagles' lead got as high as 15 points with three minutes left and they eventually closed the game with the 74-64 lead.

- Bryce Wilson led the Barons with 18 points followed by Hatcher with 16 points. Wilson also led with six boards on the afternoon.
- BPC shot for 49.1% from the field, 20% from three, and 50% from the free-throw line.
- Faulkner outrebounded Brewton-Parker, 33-27.
Other Notables
- Faulkner recorded 12 turnovers while the Barons recorded 14. The Eagles led 11-4 in steals as well.
