Barons Down Eagles

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons basketball team faced off against the Faulkner University (Ala.) Eagles in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament on February 26, 2026. The Barons cruised to a dominant victory over the Eagles in the postseason to advance to the semi-finals after a 77-56 win.

Brewton-Parker set the tone early when Gil Gonzalez opened the scoring with a dunk off a feed from Tommy Tisdale at 19:40 of the first quarter, and Abraham Garjah followed with a 3-pointer to give the Barons an early edge. The Barons and Eagles traded several leads, but a late first-quarter 3-pointer from Tisdale pushed the margin to 32-28, and Brewton-Parker carried a three-point lead into the break.

The Barons dominated the second half of the game after a closely contested first half. Leading 32-29 at halftime, the Barons broke the game open after the break, outscoring Faulkner 45-27 over the final 20 minutes. Brewton-Parker turned a tight contest into a comfortable win by stringing together multiple runs fueled by timely shooting and active defense, eventually building a 21-point margin that held to the final horn. Garjah led all scorers with 27 points, adding two steals and two assists for a steady offensive presence throughout. Tisdale backed him with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Head Coach Leonard Epps reflected on the win saying, "Always special to get a win in the postseason, our guys are bought in and truly believe right now. With no guaranteed games left its a great feeling to know we play tomorrow. Survive and advance is what we keep telling ourselves."

The Barons will prepare to face off against the Roadrunners of Dalton State College in the semi-finals on February 27, 2026.
