MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons men's basketball team hosted the Dalton State College Roadrunners on February 16, 2026, at Gillis Gymnasium, but despite their best efforts, they fell 81-68.
Brewton-Parker opened the night with energy as Abraham Garjah scored the game's first basket, an early layup that gave the Barons a 2-0 lead at 19:38 of the first quarter. The Barons stayed within a possession for much of the opening half despite a series of Dalton State spurts sparked by their perimeter shooting. A 3-pointer by Qualen Pettus made it 27-24, and another three from Ja'Ron Briggs pushed the Roadrunners' lead to 34-30 late in the half. Brewton-Parker answered to trim the deficit, but a closing-minute layup from Raylan Barrion sent Dalton State into the locker room up 36-35.
The Barons battled back to start the second half with a Tisdale dunk, which briefly swung the lead back to Brewton-Parker, but Dalton State quickly reclaimed control on a dunk by Varun Danak for a 40-39 edge. From there, Pettus and Smith drove a sustained run that Brewton-Parker could not fully counter, with the Roadrunners repeatedly capitalizing on half-court defensive stops and timely shooting. The Barons continued to compete into the closing minutes, but Dalton State's late-game execution at the line sealed the outcome
Gil Gonzalez led the Barons with 15 points and eight rebounds while going 5-of-11 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 at the line, also contributing two blocks. Garjah finished with 14 points, one rebound, and an assist on 5-of-15 shooting, including the early layup that put Brewton-Parker in front to start the contest.
The Barons will look to bounce back in their final regular-season game at home on February 21, 2026. The Barons are set to host the Skyhawks of Point University before they head to Montgomery Ala., for the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament.
