(RV) Stillman Too Tough for Brewton-Parker; Barons Fall 85-60 to Tigers

Box Score

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Men's Basketball faced (RV) Stillman (Ala.) on Saturday afternoon in Gillis Gym.

The Barons (2-19, 1-8 SSAC) were defeated 85-60 by the Tigers (12-3, 5-3 SSAC).

"We didn't come out and do the things we needed to in order to ensure victory today," Interim Coach Karim Mawuenyega said. "It seemed as if we were solely satisfied with our win on Thursday night and lost focus. This team is capable of winning night in and night out but we have to get used to success."

"We have to understand what makes us successful and be able to bring those components every night," Mawuenyega added.

How It Happened

Stillman opened the scoring with a jumper before Brewton-Parker jumped out to a fast five-point lead with 17:55 on the clock. The Barons' lead was quickly diminished by the Tigers, as Stillman recaptured the lead. Stillman began building their lead to double digits at 10:38 left in the half, leading 21-11.

Stillman was too much for the Barons in the first half as the Tigers closed out the half outscoring Brewton-Parker 23-14 to close out the half with the 44-25 lead. Stillman shot for an impressive 72% (18-of-25) from the field while holding Brewton-Parker to just 34.5% (10-of-29) from the field.

Stillman continued to outperform Brewton-Parker in the second half. The Barons managed to pull the deficit down to 14 points with 17:20 but unfortunately, that would be the closest BPC would find themselves for the remainder of the game.

The Tigers began building upon their lead and eventually eclipsed the 20-point mark with 14:21 left on the clock, leading 56-36.  Brewton-Parker pulled the deficit down to 15 but Stillman continued to respond with success.  The Tigers closed out the half outscoring the Barons 25-15 to secure the 85-60 win.
