Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. -- Brewton-Parker Men's Basketball closed out action in Lakeland, Fla. on Tuesday with a matchup against Webber (Fla.).
The Barons (1-14) were narrowly defeated by the Warriors (4-10) 66-64 to close out play at the SEU Classic.
How It Happened
Brewton-Parker opened the scoring to take an early lead before Webber answered to take their first lead of the game. The Barons advanced to a three-point lead with back-to-back scoring trips with the Warriors leveling just 30 seconds later.
BPC went on a 14-2 run to lead 20-8 with 11 minutes left to play in the first half. Brewton-Parker remained in control for the remainder of the half, hovering its lead around the double-digit mark. The Barons closed out the half leading 33-23, despite the Warriors outscoring BPC 15-13 in the final few minutes.
Early in the second half, the Barons continued to hold on to the double-digit lead by responding to just about every scoring trip the Warriors produced. BPC advanced to a 15-point lead with just over 13 minutes left to play. Webber did not back down from the challenge as they slowly began building a comeback effort that diminished the lead to the single digits with less than 10 minutes remaining.
The Warriors pulled within three points of the Barons at the eight-minute mark, but BPC quickly answered by pulling away to a 10-point lead with six left to play. Webber leveled the game at 59-59 with four minutes on the clock and reclaimed the lead just a few moments later.
Webber built a three-point lead with Brewton-Parker leveling with just under a minute remaining. The Warriors scored with 36 seconds left to take the 66-64 lead, but the Barons were unable to produce a score to extend the game, falling in regulation time.
Inside The Statistics
- Bryce Wilson and Nic Pullum led the offensive efforts for BPC scoring double-digit points on the afternoon. Wilson notched 14 points with Pullum gathering 12.
- TJ Taylor and John Allen both recorded four assists each to lead the Barons. Taylor also led the team with seven rebounds.
- Defensively, Floyd Davis picked up a team-high five steals.
- As a team, BPC shot for 43.8% from the field, 21.1% from three, and 44.4% from the free-throw line.
