Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – The Brewton-Parker men's basketball program wrapped up its weekend road trip to Florida with a matchup against Southeastern (Fla.) in Lakeland.
The Barons (0-6) faced a prolific Fire (3-0) program that was too much to handle.
Head Coach Stephen Birchfield had a few thoughts to share after the game. "Southeastern is as good as it gets in the NAIA and they were more than we could be ready for," Birchfield said. "When you play a team like that, you have to be rock solid with defensive fundamentals and we did not manage that well."
"Tonight's game had to be one of the strangest games I have ever coached against Southeastern," Birchfield mentioned. "We had moments where we played well and found open opportunities to score but we couldn't find water if we jumped off a boat."
"I think recent adversity that has hit our team has caused us to doubt ourselves when we shouldn't," Birchfield added. "This group is going to be good once they start to believe in themselves."
