LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The Brewton-Parker men's basketball program competed in an exhibition game against NCAA DII opponent West Alabama on Saturday night.
The Barons (1-9) dropped the game 62-46 against the Tigers (5-1).
Head Coach Stephen Birchfield gave his thoughts after the game. "We played a good game today against a very good West Alabama team," Birchfield said. "They will be one of the best teams in their league and I believe we played well against them."
"We are improving on defense and our offense is starting to show signs of where we want it to be," Birchfield mentioned. "We will turn the corner soon, but we have to keep our heads up until everything falls into place."
How It Happened
- West Alabama opened the game with a score to capture the lead, but Brewton-Parker found a way to secure a 6-5 lead just four minutes into the game. Unfortunately, UWA equalized and reclaimed the lead four minutes later and did not look back. After leveling the score, the Tigers slowly built up the lead to double-digits as they closed out the half with a 13-point, 30-17 lead.
- In the second half, the Tigers continued to control the scoreline as they added to their lead. UWA managed to advance their lead to as high as 18 points at the 12-minute mark. The Barons were not able to produce enough scoring to challenge the Tigers as the deficit didn't drop below double digits. West Alabama eventually closed out the game with a 16-point, 62-46 lead.
