MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - Brewton-Parker College Men's Golf team participated in the Coastal Georgia Fall Invite on September 9 and 10 this week. The Barons started the round on fire and led at five under through the first couple of holes. Freshman Arvid Dale led the team with four straight birdies to start his round. Dale, along with Senior Anthony Cecchin, were the team leaders. Cecchin managed to birdie the challenging par three on 13.
After 36 holes had been played, the Barons were in the mix, but struggles arose that took the Barons off course. The win and wet conditions on the course took the wind out of the Barons' sails and cooled the team off. Sophomore James Duggan managed to maintain consistency for the team and shot 75 and 78, respectively. Cecchin finished with a 75 and 80. Ben Searle shot 79 and 80, and Jesper Larsson finished with 85 and 88. The Barons did all they could, but going up against the Defending National Champions, Dalton State was no easy task. Dalton State showed why they were national Champions with another stellar performance with an incredible team score of 11 under par through 36.
The tournament ended with Dalton State shooting one under par and the next closest team 18 over par. The weather caused trouble for all of the teams, and the conditions made it difficult to score. After 54 holes of golf, James Duggan led the team at 13 over, followed by Anthony Cecchin at 14 over. Benjamin Searle shot 20 over, and Arvid Dale followed closely at 27 over. Jesper Larsson wrapped up for the Barons at 43 over.
The Barons look to return on September 29 at the Bryan College Invitational.
