Women’s Basketball Earns Bounce-Back Win at Talladega

Box Score

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Brewton-Parker Women's Basketball opened the 2023 calendar year with a bounce-back win on the road at Talladega (Ala.) on Tuesday night.

The Lady Barons (10-5, 3-4 SSAC) returned to winning ways with a 68-62 victory over the Tornadoes (4-8, 0-7 SSAC) in what proved to be a challenging night for the visitors.

"We found a way to win tonight," Head Coach Steve Edwards said. "We didn't have much go our way tonight, but we made plays down the stretch to finish the game."

"I am proud of our fight on the road," Edwards added. "Road games are always tough."

Madison Evans led the charge for the Lady Barons with a double-double performance, scoring 15 points and snagging 10 rebounds. Evans also dished out three of BPC's seven assists on the night. Sy-Marieona Williams also produced a double-figure scoring performance with 12 points with a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.

As a team, BPC shot for 37.5% (24-of-64) from the field, 16.1% (5-of-31) from three, and 83.3% (15-of-18) from the foul line. Despite shooting a season-low from beyond the arc, Brewton-Parker utilized a season-high shooting percentage from the charity stripe to help advance past the Tornadoes. Including the win over Talladega, Brewton-Parker has managed to hold six teams under 65 points this season.

Brewton-Parker returns to action on Thursday night with a home contest against Middle Georgia at 5:30 p.m. ET in Gillis Gymnasium.
