MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons built a double-digit lead in the first quarter but could not withstand a dominant third-quarter surge from Mobile, falling 80-75 on Saturday afternoon in Mount Vernon.
Â
The Barons controlled the opening 10 minutes, using a balanced attack to race out to a 24-13 advantage after the first quarter. Brewton-Parker's defense held Mobile to 13 points in the frame, and a jumper by Jakayla Peeples at the buzzer capped the strong start and gave the Barons their largest lead of the game. Brewton-Parker carried a 34-26 edge into halftime after limiting Mobile to just 13 points again in the second quarter.
Â
The game turned after the break as Mobile's offense caught fire in the third quarter. The visitors outscored the Barons 31-18 in the period, erasing the eight-point halftime deficit and flipping the momentum. The Lady Barons continued to battle in the fourth quarter but could not fully recover.
Â
Head Coach Steve Edwards reflected on the performance, saying. "Anytime we need to be tough, we struggle to meet that challenge. Mobile was much tougher, and that's the reason they won today."Â
Â
The Lady Barons will look to bounce back on the road next week as they prepare to take on Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on February 12, 2026, in Tifton, Ga. The Lady Barons will look to use their final three games of the season to build momentum going into the playoffs.Â
