Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker softball hosted No. 3 Mobile (Ala.) on Friday afternoon to continue Southern States Athletic Conference action.
The Lady Barons (16-16, 5-9 SSAC) dropped the pair of games to the Rams (34-0, 16-0 SSAC) 8-0 in both contests.
Game 1 | Brewton-Parker 0, Mobile 8
Mobile struck early with a solo score in the first inning to lead 1-0. The Rams connected for a pair of base hits before scoring on a sacrifice bunt for the early lead. The second inning ended in scoreless efforts for both sides before Mobile added three more runs in the third inning.
The Rams utilized four hits and an error from the Lady Barons to score three runs for the 4-0 lead. UM produced two singles, a double and a triple.
Brewton-Parker finally found a few hits in the fifth inning but were unable to score, leaving a pair of runners on base. Mobile closed out the game with two runs in the sixth and the seventh innings while producing a total of seven hits to secure the 8-0 win. The Lady Barons were unable to score a run in the final two innings producing just two hits.
Inside the Statistics
- Mobile produced 17 hits while Brewton-Parker produced just five.
- Josalin Whitten and Olivia Whitt led BPC with two hits each.
- Whitten also led the Lady Barons with nine putouts while Natalie Hardy assisted three.
- Hardy started in the circle for Brewton-Parker, pitching for 6.2 innings. She gave up seven earned runs on the 17 hits for the day.
- Alexis Williams closed out the game pitching for one at-bat, throwing seven pitches.
Game 2 | Brewton-Parker 0, Mobile 8
Mobile broke the scoreless draw in the top of the third inning after both teams left a pair of runners on base in the second inning. The Rams connected for two singles, bringing a runner home for the 1-0 lead.
Alexis Bradshaw tripled in the bottom half of the inning but was left on third as Brewton-Parker was quickly extinguished with back-to-back strikeouts.
The Rams connected for a leadoff double and a single to bring home a run for a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Mobile added another run in the sixth inning for a 3-0 lead, producing another two hits.
In the seventh, Mobile tallied five additional runs from seven hits to lead 8-0. The Rams produced a double and six base hits to produce the five runs, securing another eight-run win.
Inside the Statistics
- The Rams outhit the Lady Barons 15-2 in game two. Madisen Nelson and Bradshaw both notched a hit, with Bradshaw also producing a triple.
- Defensively, Nelson recorded nine putouts while MacKenzie Tripp assisted four.
- Laykin Brown pitched a complete game, allowing all 15 hits and eight earned runs. She struck out one batter as well.
The Lady Barons return to play tomorrow as they host No. 7 William Carey (Miss.) at Noon ET.
