Men's Basketball Falls Short in 73-65 Loss to Middle Georgia

COCHRAN, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Men's Basketball traveled to Cochran, Ga. to face SSAC foe Middle Georgia on Saturday afternoon.

The Barons (2-22, 1-11 SSAC) fell short against the Knights (8-11, 5-6 SSC), 73-65.

How It Happened

Middle Georgia gathered the lead early, but Brewton-Parker leveled the game at 5-5 with 17:34 on the clock. The Barons then took control of the scoreline, advancing to a four-point lead. The Knights reclaimed the lead with 13:52 remaining, leading 12-11. MGA held its last lead of the half at the 8:49 mark, leading 19-18.

Brewton-Parker closed out the remainder of the half in control. The Barons built up to a seven-point lead with a minute left in the half but closed out with a 35-30 lead over the Knights. In the first 20 minutes of play, Chance Hatcher and Emmanuel Green led BPC with eight points apiece.

To open the second half, BPC jumped out to a six-point lead. Middle Georgia answered with a 10-2 run to reclaim the lead. Both teams traded shots and lead changes for the next few minutes until MGA captured the lead with 13:29 remaining in the game.

Middle Georgia closed out the remainder of the game leading the Barons. The Knights eventually finished with the 73-65 lead to seal the win.

  • Hatcher led the scoring efforts for BPC with 16 points followed by Floyd Davis with 13 and Green with 10.
  • Hatcher and Davis both led the Barons with nine rebounds each.
