Softball Sweeps Trinity Baptist at Home

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Softball hosted Trinity Baptist (Fla.) on Tuesday afternoon for doubleheader action.

The Lady Barons (3-3) swept the Eagles (4-5) with a 4-0, seven-inning win in game one and then a 10-0, five-inning game during game two.

Game 1 | Brewton-Parker 4, Trinity Baptist 0

After a scoreless two innings to open the game, Trinity Baptist managed to find the first hit of the day with a single. The Eagles also left three on base in the top of the third inning with the Lady Barons giving up an error.

Brewton-Parker found its first hit of the afternoon in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Lady Barons left one on base with the score remaining scoreless. The bats began to heat up for the Lady Barons in the bottom of the fifth inning as BPC found five hits, scoring four runs in the process. TBC managed to keep BPC away for the remainder of the inning, forcing the Lady Barons to leave two on.

The final inning and a half concluded with scoreless efforts with neither team producing anything offensively. The Lady Barons were able to take the win with the 4-0 lead.

Inside the Statistics

  • The Lady Barons gathered six hits and four RBIs in game one with Ashley Wilson leading the way with a hit as well as a solo RBI.
  • Olivia Whitt, Leah Henry, Erika Yatabe, and Wilson earned runs for game one.
  • Both Wilson and Henry recorded a stolen base.
  • Natalie Hardy pitched for all seven innings allowing just one hit while striking out five batters.

Game 2 | Brewton-Parker 10, Trinity Baptist 0 (Five Innings)

Game two started out hot for the Barons with a total of eight runs in the bottom half of the opening inning. MacKenzie Tripp boosted the Lady Barons early with a two-RBI double to give BPC an early 2-0 lead, bringing home Chloe Strickland and Alexis Bradshaw. Cailyn Snellgrove notched a two-RBI double as well to bring both Savannah Cook and Madisen Nelson home, giving BPC a 4-0 lead.

Brewton-Parker found another pair of runs coming off the bat of Abby Cox with a two-RBI single, scoring Snellgrove and Whitt. The final two scores in the inning for the Lady Barons came by the way of a double from Bradshaw, bringing home Cayden Fleming and Cox to give BPC a commanding 8-0 lead.

The Lady Barons added another two runs in the bottom of the second from two hits. BPC also left two runners on base. Both Cook and Whitt scored in the inning with Whitt crossing home plate from a single off Bradshaw's bat for an RBI. Neither team could produce much for the remainder of the game as BPC sealed the win in a shortened five innings, winning 10-0.

  • BPC gathered six hits and recorded a total of nine RBIs for the second installment of the day.
  • The duo of Snellgrove and Bradshaw led the way with two hits apiece while Bradshaw led with three of the team's RBIs.
  • A trip of Lady Barons gathered a double apiece while another trio picked up a total of four stolen bases for BPC.
  • Laykin Brown pitched for all five innings, walking just one batter, and striking out seven on 17 at-bats.

The Barons move to 3-3 on the season and are set to host Coastal Georgia at home on Saturday.
