Box Score TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Brewton-Parker men's basketball program headed south for a two-game road trip in Florida beginning with a matchup against Florida College.
The Barons (0-5) struggled against the Falcons (4-0) in an 83-56 loss during the second road contest of the season.
Head Coach Stephen Birchfield briefly spoke about the challenges the guys had. "We played back-to-back games with a long road trip in between," Birchfield said. "As a team, we must do better in response to adversity because we are simply better than what we produced tonight. We faced a lot within the last 24 hours, and it was too much for us to overcome."
How It Happened
- The Barons took the first lead of the night with Antrell Williams scoring the opening bucket to start the game 2-0 over the Falcons. Florida College responded quickly with a three-pointer to gain their first lead of the night before Floyd Davis reclaimed the lead for Brewton-Parker to move the score to 4-3. Shortly after, the game was tied at 6-6 and that was the closest the Barons would be for the remainder of the game.
- Florida College went on a 6-0 run before the Barons could score again but the Falcons seemed to be too much as they quickly moved their lead into the double digits. For the half, the Falcons moved their lead to as high as 18 points before closing out with a 38-21 lead at the break.
- The Falcons opened the second half quickly with a 12-0 run before Brewton-Parker found a score. Despite the efforts, Florida College was too much to handle for the Barons as the Falcons boosted their lead to as high as 38 points with under five minutes remaining in the game. The Barons closed out the game with a final score of 83-56.
Inside The Statistics
- As a team, the Barons struggled with shooting from the field as they shot for 31.8% (21-of-66) from the field while shooting just 8.3% (2-of-17) from three-point range.
- Florida College outrebounded Brewton-Parker 39-29 on the night.
- The Barons did however record an 80% (12-of-15) free-throw percentage.
- Chance Hatcher led with 12 points on the night. Davis led the team with eight of the team's 29 rebounds.
Other Notables
- Brewton-Parker gave up 11 turnovers while Florida College gave up 12.
- The Barons led in steals 9-8 over the Falcons.
