ANDERSON, S.C. — Brewton-Parker Men's golf made a strong final-day charge at the Bruins Golf Classic on Tuesday, overcoming a five-stroke deficit and challenging host Bob Jones University for the tournament title down the stretch.
The Barons cut into the lead throughout the final round and briefly moved one stroke ahead before ultimately finishing second overall. BPCU posted a 74.25 final-round scoring average, continuing a stretch of steady improvement for the Barons.
Brinson Burdette led the way for Brewton-Parker, finishing fourth overall at 4-over par. Burdette carded back-to-back rounds of 74, with his consistent performance earning him a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Will McNealy and James Dugan also turned in strong performances, each finishing tied for sixth. Their finishes gave Brewton-Parker three golfers inside the top 10.
Freshman Vincent Lundmark narrowly missed joining the trio in the top 10, finishing 11th overall and providing another strong performance for the Barons' lineup.
The runner-up finish continues Brewton-Parker's recent progress as the Barons build momentum heading into the next portion of their fall schedule.
BPCU will return to action during the first week of October at the Point University Invitational in LaGrange, Georgia.
