MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons baseball team traveled to Cochran, Ga., to take on the Knights of Middle Georgia State University in a mid-week non-conference showdown. The Barons rallied from trailing 3-1 late in the game before a three-run bomb from Fred Guzman-Diaz broke open the game and gave the Barons the lead. The Barons would end up taking the game 5-3.

Jack Morris opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the third inning to send Diaz home. The Knights would strike quickly in the bottom of the inning, scoring off a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to take a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, the Knights scored again on an RBI single to take a 3-1 lead. The Diaz homer in the top of the seventh gave the Barons a lead they wouldn't give back, and would add insurance in the top of the eighth when Caleb Strott scored off a balk to push the lead to 5-3. William Whitlock pitching in relief would qualify for the win, and Bryce Morley would enter in the top of the ninth to close out the game and get the save. 

The Barons will return to Mount Vernon and prepare to host the Rams of the University of Mobile (Ala.) with a doubleheader on April 10, 2026. The Barons will look to keep the momentum from the midweek clash going into the SSAC weekend conference series.
