MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons baseball team faced off against the Stallions of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Jackson, Tenn., on April 29, 2026, in the opening round of pool play. The Barons dropped the game 15-4 in seven innings.
The Stallions set the tone early, scoring three times in the first inning and adding two more in the second for a 5-0 lead. After a scoreless third, ABAC broke the game open in the fourth, sending seven runs across. By the end of the frame, the Barons trailed 12-0. The Barons answered in the top of the fifth. Michael Son, who reached base in all four of his plate appearances, lined a two-RBI single to get Brewton-Parker on the board and cut the margin to 12-2. Son finished 2-for-2 with three RBIÂ and two walks, giving the Barons one of their steadiest offensive performances.Â
The Barons' momentum was short-lived. In the bottom of the fifth, the Stallions hit a three-run homer to left to retake control and push the lead to 15-2. The Barons continued to compete in the seventh, scoring twice when Fred Diaz hit an RBI triple and Son followed with another RBI single, accounting for the 15-4 final.
The Barons will look to bounce back in their second game of the postseason tournament when they face off against the Eagles of Faulkner University on April 30, 2026.Â
