MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons baseball team faced off against the Eagles of Faulkner University in Jackson, Tenn., in the second game of pool play in the SSAC tournament. The Barons lost the game 5-1.
Faulkner jumped to an early lead, scoring twice at the top of the second and twice more at the top of the fourth to claim an early 4-0 lead. The Barons answered in the bottom of the fifth. Grayson Waller came around to score on Angel Amador's sacrifice fly, trimming the deficit to 4-1 and giving the Barons a brief opening. Jonathan Rutland helped keep the game within reach out of the bullpen, throwing four innings and allowing one run on three hits while striking out four. The Eagles would extend their lead at the top of the seventh and push the game out of reach.Â
The Barons will face off against the Rams of the University of Mobile in the final game of pool play on May 1, 2026, to conclude their time at the conference tournament.Â
