GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons track and field team traveled to Gainesville to compete in the Indoor Classic and went home with several standout performances, including two national qualifiers.
Hollis Morton kicked off the Barons' success, taking home a first-place finish in the high jump with a B standard finish of 2.04m. Morton not only qualified for the Indoor National Championship, but he set the Barons' new school record in the 200m race with a 21.71, taking home a third-place finish in the race.
Kiara Green set a school record and qualified for the National Championships in the 60m with a 7.59-second finish. Green also broke a school record and qualified for the National Championships with her 4x400 team of Sidni Daniels, Kamron Noble, and Kendra Payne. The team finished the race in 3:55.28, taking home third place.
Director of Track and Field Tony Hawkins reflected on the team's performance, saying, "Everyone on the staff has done a great job preparing the team as we head into the conference championships. The performances at the meet are an indicator that we are moving in the right direction."
The Barons will have two weeks to prepare for the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships, scheduled for February 20, 2026, in Gainesville, Fla. The Barons will have their best competing, looking to win an indoor conference championship and see if any others can qualify for the Indoor National Championship.
