MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons track and field teams traveled to Savannah Ga, to compete in the Savannah State University Invitational on March 4, 2026. The Barons' men's team took home a second-place finish, and the women's team took home a first-place finish.
The Barons competed, winning five events on both the men's and women's side of the competition. Hollis Morton continued his dominant season with three first-place finishes, including the 100m race, the high jump, and the 4x100m relay race with his teammates Donta Williams, Markavius Jones, and Sean Williams. Jacob Hackenberry took home first place in the 5000 race with a time of 17:38.30, and Jonah Galli took home first place in the 3000 with a time of 11:07.74.
Kiara Green dominated the women's bracket, taking home four first-place finishes in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100 with her teammates, Kameron Noble, Sidni Daniels, and Kendra Payne. The team also took home the 4x400 race to help secure points and take first place at the meet. Noble then set the new school record in the 400m race with a time of 57.31 seconds.
The Barons will look to get more national qualifiers at their next meet on April 11, 2026, at the Annual Alice Coachman meet in Albany, Ga.
