MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons track and field teams traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to compete in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invite. The Barons set numerous personal records at the event, along with four new school records and two national qualifiers.
Kiara Green, a true Freshman from Charlton County, Ga., qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in the 100m with a time of 11.78 seconds and helped the 4x100 relay team qualify for nationals. The 4x100 team with Green, Sidni Daniels, Kamron Nobles, and Kendray Payne finished in second place with a time of 46.93 seconds to punch their ticket to nationals.
The Barons also saw Green and the 4x100 team set new school records in the outdoor events. Reese Bryant set the new school record in the Hammer throw with a mark of 36.43m alongside Ja Della Major, who set the new school Javelin record with a mark of 37.47m.
Director of Track and Field Tony Hawkins reflected on the team's performance, saying, "This was a great transition from indoor to outdoor. We are looking forward to continued success as the season progresses."
The Barons will look to compete at the Don McGarey Invitational on March 27-28, 2026, in Kennesaw Ga., and aim for more personal and school records, and look to see more National Qualifiers.
