Barons Fall Short in 6-3 Loss to No. 14 Faulkner

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Brewton-Parker traveled to No. 14-ranked Faulkner (Ala.) on Friday for a three-game weekend series to continue SSAC play.

The Barons (17-25, 10-9 SSAC) fell short to the Eagles (28-12, 17-2 SSAC) in a 6-3 loss on Friday night.

How It Happened

The Eagles captured an early 1-0 lead by taking advantage of a BPC miscue in the first inning. After a walk and a fielder's choice, Faulkner managed to reach first on a throwing error which scored a runner for the early lead.

Brewton-Parker answered with two hits during the top of the second inning to score the leveling run. Jordan Rahn notched a single to left field while Malik Germany singled down the left side to score Rahn.

Faulkner then responded in the bottom of the third inning with two scores to pull out to a 3-1 lead. The Eagles notched two singles and a double to help push home the pair of baserunners for the two-run cushion. In the fourth, Faulkner tallied two additional runs to boost the Barons' deficit to four runs. The Eagles connected for two hits and the bases loaded as well.

After a swift and scoreless fifth inning, the Barons scored two runs to move the deficit to just two runs back. Taz Worrell and Tony Rudolph both recorded singles but the Barons were able to score on an odd fielder's choice play that eventually resulted in an error for Faulkner, scoring the two runs for BPC.

The Eagles produced two hits of their own during the bottom half of the inning and eventually crossed the dish for a run to help boost the lead back out to a three-run deficit over the Barons. Unfortunately, BPC was held hitless for the remainder of the game which ended 6-3 in favor of Faulkner.
