TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Brewton-Parker baseball closed out the weekend series at Stillman (Ala.) with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday afternoon.

The Barons (10-17, 4-2 SSAC) swept the Tigers (7-14, 1-7 SSAC) with an 8-5 win in game one and a 20-12 win in game two.

Game 1 | Brewton-Parker 8, Stillman 5

The Barons opened the scoring in the second inning after an opening stalemate in the first inning. Drew DeMasi led the top of the inning off with a double down the right-field line and advanced to third from a passed ball. Mackenzie McDowell reached on a single and advanced on a wild pitch that DeMasi was able to take advantage of by coming home for the 1-0 lead.

Brewton-Parker added to its lead by scoring another solo run in the top of the third inning. After a pair of singles from Tony Rudolph and Matt Collins. The duo both stole their respective bases with Rudolph crossing the dish from a throwing error by the Tigers' catcher for the 2-0 lead.

Stillman managed to respond with four runs on five hits as well as a BPC error to capture the lead 4-2. The Tigers connected on four singles and a double to capture their first lead of the game.

BPC answered swiftly with four runs as well in the fourth inning to reclaim the lead, 6-4. Jordan Rahn led with a walk before Jackson Smith recorded a single to centerfield. Taz Worrell added a two-RBI single to bring home both Rahn and Smith. Worrell then scored on a passed ball prior to Collins hitting a triple and scoring on a balk.

The Barons added another run in the fifth inning to aid in cushioning the lead. To lead off, Eduardo Castillo knocked down a double as DeMasi reached on a throwing error. Rahn sacrificed to bring home Castillo to move the BPC lead to 7-4.

Stillman scored a single run in the bottom half of the inning to knock down the deficit to two runs. Brewton-Parker managed to add one final run in the sixth inning. Rudolph was able to score as the Tigers produced three walks and a hit by pitch for BPC. The Barons held on to the 8-5 lead for the final inning and a half to secure the first win of the day.

Inside the Statistics

• Both teams produced nine hits each with Worrell leading BPC with two RBIs and two hits. Rudolph led the baserunning with two scores and a stolen base.
• Smith led the Barons with 11 putouts.
• Ty Cook pitched for all seven innings. He allowed nine hits and three earned runs while striking out 11 batters and walking three.

Game 2 | Brewton-Parker 20, Stillman 12

Brewton-Parker opened the scoring with four runs in the first inning as Stillman struggled with pitching early. The Tigers' pitcher hit three Barons by a pitch while also walking a pair of batters. Collins managed to connect for a single. Zachary Wilson, Caleb Gepfer, Rudolph, and Collins all scored for BPC.

The Tigers answered in the bottom half of the inning with three runs of their own from a pair of hits while also taking advantage of a walk and a couple of batters getting hit by a pitch. BPC added another two runs in the top of the second.

Worrell led-off with a double prior to Rudolph hitting a single. Worrell managed to come home from a single off the bat of Collins. Rudolph scored from a sacrifice fly from Castillo just before the side was closed out with a flyout.

Stillman took control of the lead in the bottom of the second inning, scoring five runs from three hits and taking advantage of three walks. The Tigers closed out the inning with the 8-6 lead.

The third and fourth innings resulted in scoreless efforts for both teams before Stillman added a run in the fifth inning. Brewton-Parker responded in the sixth inning with a run from two hits but left two runners on base. Worrell and Wilson recorded a single each with Worrell scoring to make the score 9-7 in favor of Stillman.

The Barons produced seven runs with three hits in the top of the seventh to reclaim the lead, 14-9. Austin Mealor, Rahn, and Worrell all singled while Cole Graham, DeMasi, Rahn, Mealor, Worrell, Collins, and Wilson all scored.

Stillman produced just a solo score in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 14-10 before the Barons managed to add another pair of scores in the top of the eighth. Both Graham and Rudolph scored while the Barons produced three hits in the inning.

The Tigers scored two final runs in the bottom of the eighth but could not mount a comeback as BPC shut the door with four runs in the top of the ninth inning to secure the series with the 20-12 lead.

Inside the Statistics

• Both teams produced 13 hits each with Castillo and Collins leading Brewton-Parker with three RBIs each.
• The trip of Worrell, Rudolph, and Collins notched three hits each while Worrell and Rudolph both scored four runs apiece.
• Castillo recorded 11 putouts the game with Rudolph producing three assists.
• A total of six Barons appeared on the mound with Austin Visocchi making the longest appearance with four innings pitched. He allowed three hits and just one run while striking out four batters.
• Chandler Koerner, Roberto Urena, Dakota Davis, McDowell, and Smith all made appearances on the mound. Both Urena and Smith picked up two strikeouts each.
