Box Score HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Brewton-Parker baseball program continued its series against USC-Beaufort on Friday afternoon in South Carolina.
The Barons (1-3) dropped the first game of the day, 6-0 against the Sand Sharks (3-4). Unfortunately, rain halted game two in the second inning as BPC was leading 2-0. The inclement weather forced the officials to suspend the game until Brewton-Parker returns to Hardeeville on Feb. 22.
How It Happened
USCB opened the game with a lone run in the bottom of the first inning to take the early 1-0 lead after Brewton-Parker recorded two hits while leaving three on base. The second and third innings would result in scoreless efforts from both teams.
BPC gathered a lone hit in the top of the fourth inning from Matt Collins but was unsuccessful in producing a run due to a strikeout and a double play. The Sand Sharks added four runs to their tally on five hits and left one on base in the bottom half of the inning to lead 5-0 over the Barons.
The rest of the game was uneventful for Brewton-Parker as the Barons were held hitless for the final three innings. USCB found one last score in the bottom of the sixth inning to advance the lead to 6-0, sealing the win in the seven-inning matchup.
