Barons Struggle In South Carolina; Baseball Drops Tuesday Doubleheader at USCB

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Brewton-Parker Baseball challenged USC-Beaufort (S.C.) for a resumption of Feb. 4th's suspended game as well as the scheduled nine-inning contest on Tuesday afternoon.

The Barons (3-11) were swept 10-2 and 12-4 on Tuesday against the Sand Sharks (7-10).

Game 1 – Brewton-Parker 2, USCB 10 (7 Innings)

Game one was the resumption of the suspended game from Feb. 4. The Barons opened the game with a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. The Sand Sharks were able to score six runs in the bottom of the third to lead 6-2 over Brewton-Parker.

The Barons were unable to find a hit for the remainder of the game with USCB scoring four more runs in the final three innings to win 10-2. The Sand Sharks scored a run in the fourth, a run in the fifth, and two runs in the sixth inning.

Game 2 – Brewton-Parker 4, USCB 12

The Barons recorded four runs on two hits and an error to lead 4-0 in the opening inning. Tony Rudolph, Ethan Frasca, Worrell, and Collins crossed the dish off RBIs from Germany, Frasca, and DeMasi.

USCB answered with two runs of their own to move the score to 4-2 after the first inning. The third inning resulted in scoreless efforts for both teams until the Sand Sharks were able to capture the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 6-4.

The Sand Sharks managed to hold the Barons to just four hits in the final six innings of play while scoring a run in the fifth, three runs in the sixth, and two runs in the seventh inning to move the lead to 12-4. BPC left a total of eight runners on base in the game.

  • USCB outhit BPC 10-6 for game two.
  • DeMasi led with eight putouts in game two while Aaron Maragni had seven.
  • Chandler Koerner started on the mound and threw for two innings, allowing three runs and two hits.
  • Austin Visocchi was credited with the loss, throwing from two innings allowing three runs on two hits.
  • Dakota Davis, Noah Burns, and Jered Marrs came in to pitch for the Barons as well with Marrs leading with four strikeouts.

The Barons are scheduled to host Shawnee State (Ohio) for a weekend series starting Friday.
