Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Brewton-Parker Baseball wrapped up its weekend road trip on Saturday with a single nine-inning game on tap at No. 8-ranked Keiser (Fla.)
The Barons' (1-7) struggles against the Seahawks (7-4) continued Saturday with a shortened seven-inning game, 13-1.
How It Happened
The Barons opened with two hits in the top of the first inning, leaving two on base. The Seahawks were held scoreless with a lone hit, leaving two on. BPC was the first on the scoreboard with a solo shot over the left-field fence for Zachary Wilson. Brewton-Parker picked up two hits while leaving two runners on.
Keiser answered swiftly with eight runs in the bottom of the second to capture the lead. The Seahawks totaled five hits while BPC was credited for an error. Both sides produced scoreless efforts in the third inning. The Barons were able to secure three hits but left three runners on in the top of the fourth, to continue with just the one run.
KU picked up another four runs on four hits to move the overall tally to 12-1. After a scoreless fifth inning, the Seahawks added one final run in the sixth to secure the win after holding BPC scoreless for the seventh inning.
Inside the Statistics
- Keiser recorded a total of 11 hits while Brewton-Parker recorded eight.
- Cole Graham and Matt Collins notched two hits apiece with Wilson scoring the solo run homer in the second inning.
- Caleb Gepfer and Ethan Frasca recorded a stolen base each.
- BPC left a total of nine runners on base.
- The Barons threw five pitchers in the final installment for the weekend with Mackenzie McDowell picking up the loss.
- McDowell threw for 1.1 innings, giving up five hits and sin runs while striking out two batters.
The Barons move to 1-7 on the season and are set to return to Mount Vernon for a four-game homestand against Rio Grande (Ohio) starting on Feb. 18.
