Baseball Drops Friday Doubleheader at No. 8 Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Brewton-Parker Baseball traveled to West Palm Beach, Fla. for a three-game weekend series at No. 8-ranked Keiser (Fla.).

The Barons (1-6) dropped the doubleheader on Friday against the tough Seahawks (6-4) with losses of 9-0 and 11-1.

Game 1 – Brewton-Parker 0, Keiser 9

Brewton-Parker's bats struggled in the series opener while Keiser found a way to get the bats producing. The Seahawks opened the scoring in the bottom of the second with a solo homer to lead 1-0.

Keiser gathered two more runs in the bottom of the third to lead 3-0 over the Barons. Keiser picked up three hits while leaving to runners on. The third and fourth innings were left scoreless between the two sides as BPC left a total of three runners on base between the two innings.

The Seahawks closed out the game with two runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to eventually seal the game at 9-0.

Inside the Statistics

  • The Barons recorded just four hits in game one with Taz Worrell leading the way with two.
  • Zachary Wilson notched alone double effort for the game with Ethan Frasca picking up a stolen base.
  • The misfortunes of cold bats left seven runners on base for the Barons.
  • Keiser finished game one with 12 hits and nine RBIs.
  • The Seahawks gathered three doubles and two home runs as well.
  • Ty Cook pitched for 5.2 innings and gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out eight. Chandler Koerner pitched for 1.1 innings followed by Jered Marrs with an inning. Koerner gathered two strikeouts.

Game 2 – Brewton-Parker 1, Keiser 11

Game two began with a more hopeful start as the Barons were able to produce two hits from Worrell and Jordan Rahn in the top half of the first inning. Unfortunately, BPC left one on base before Keiser managed to pick up two runs on two hits. The Seahawks left two on base to close the inning.

For the next four innings, both teams saw scoreless efforts with the Barons recording a total of four hits and leaving two on base over the span of the four innings of play. The BPC defense held tough for those four innings allowing just two hits and managed to keep Keiser away as the Seahawks left six runners on base.

In the sixth, Malik Germany gathered the lone run of the day with the Barons notching two hits and leaving two on. However, Keiser pulled away in the bottom of the sixth inning with five runs on four hits to lead 7-1. The Seahawks secured the game in the seventh inning by adding four runs to move the score to 11-1.

Inside the Statistics

  • The Barons recorded nine hits with Drew DeMasi, Jackson Smith, and Rahn notching two hits apiece. Rahn also knocked in one RBI.
  • Rahn gathered a double with Germany gathering a triple.
  • Caleb Gepfer picked up a stolen base.
  • The Barons left five runners on base for game two.
  • Keiser recorded 10 hits and nine RBIs with one homer as well as three doubles.
  • BPC threw five pitchers in game two with Trey Jones pitching for 3.2 innings followed by Austin Visocchi pitching for 1.1 innings. Visocchi notched two strikeouts with Matt Hager recording one for an inning pitched.

The Barons move to 1-6 on the season and are set to close the series at Noon ET tomorrow.
