Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- Brewton-Parker men's soccer were defeated 5-0 by Columbia International (S.C.) on Monday night.
The Barons (0-4-1) struggled to capitalize on a couple offensive chances while also drawing two unlucky deflections for the visiting Rams.
Coach Bob Neumann shared his thoughts after the match. "Take nothing away from Coach Bill and Coach Asher at CIU," Neumann said. "They were clinical tonight and took the most out of the chances."
"We were a bit unlucky to not capitalize on two scoring opportunities early on," Neumann added. "We also were unfortunate enough to see two deflections result in goals for CIU. Fortunately, we have a quick turnaround to set things right going into the match on Wednesday."
How It Happened
- The Rams opened the game with a quick score in the 3rd minute, followed by a second just minutes later in the 9th minute to lead 2-0.
- The Barons had a chance within the opening eight minutes to capture a goal but could not beat the Rams' keeper.
- In the 30th minute, BPC was given another opportunity to score but the CIU defense saved a clear chance as the Rams' keeper was off his line.
- Columbia International gathered another goal. in the 32nd minute to lead 3-0.
- The Rams were lucky to score in the 39th minute by an own goal from BPC to lead 4-0. Unfortunately, the ball found the back of the net off a deflected clearance from the BPC defense.
- CIU led the half with seven total shots while BPC recorded four.
- In the second half, the Rams would add one final goal in the 59th minute to make the score 5-0.
- The Rams led the second half another seven shots while the Barons could only find three.

- Patrick Gawliczek Rodriguez recorded two shots with both landing on frame while Anton Van Efferink tallied two shots and one on goal.
- The Barons totaled seven shots with five on frame while the Rams totaled 14 shots and 10 on frame.
- Jamair Stewart recorded five saves in the match, playing in all 90 minutes for Brewton-Parker.
Other Notables
- The game proved to be gritty as there were 33 total fouls between the two sides. CIU led with 22 fouls in the match.
