Mount Vernon, Ga. — Brewton-Parker Men's Soccer returned home, falling 4-1 to Blue Mountain Christian University in conference action. The result moved the Barons to 0-12-1 overall and 0-7 in conference play.
Blue Mountain struck early, taking a 1-0 advantage just over three minutes into the match on a goal from Davi Rainato. The Barons responded, however, and began creating opportunities of their own. Uros Andjelic put a header on goal in the 10th minute before Biel Ibanez forced another save in the 17th.
Seconds later, Ilyas Nazih broke through for Brewton-Parker, finding the back of the net in the 17th minute to pull the Barons even at 1-1. Blue Mountain quickly answered as Santiago Estebanez scored less than two minutes later, sending the visitors into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.
Brewton-Parker remained within one goal through the opening portion of the second half before Blue Mountain created separation. Sammuel Davi Cavalcante extended the lead in the 69th minute, and Estebanez added his second goal of the night in the 80th to close out the 4-1 final.
The Barons finished with seven shots, including four on goal, while Blue Mountain recorded 11 attempts with eight on target. Andjelic and Ibanez led BPCU with two shots apiece, while Nazih, Harry Mayhew and Emroy McKenzie each recorded one. Nazih's goal accounted for his lone shot of the contest.
In goal, Thomas Hernadez started and played the opening 21:34 before Diego Alejandro Montes Carrera took over for the remainder of the match. Carrera finished with four saves.
Brewton-Parker will remain at home Saturday, Oct. 3, when the Barons welcome the University of Tennessee Southern.
