Box Score OXFORD, Ala. -- The Brewton-Parker women's soccer program continued SSAC play on Saturday afternoon with a dominant 9-0 victory over Talladega (Ala.).
The Lady Barons (6-7, 2-0 SSAC) produced a heavy attack that proved to be difficult to handle for the Tornadoes (1-4-2, 0-2 SSAC).
How It Happened
- The Lady Barons opened the match with five shots before breaking free in the 12th minute to lead 1-0. Kadisha Martina opened the scoring by finding the back of the net off the corner kick from Deandra Pickering.
- Several minutes and several shots pass for Brewton-Parker before Sarah De Gannes bagged a goal for BPC to lead 2-0. De Gannes found the net off a blocked shot.
- In the 34th minute, Aurora Miglio scored with the assistance of Pickering. Miglio ripped a shot from 20 yards out to find the upper 90, giving the Lady Barons the 3-0 lead.
- Just moments later, Miglio netted another with Pickering assisting again for the 4-0 lead over Talladega.
- In the 37th minute, Martina netted her second goal of the match with the help of Miglio to lead 5-0 before the break.
- The Brewton-Parker attack tallied 19 shots while the defense only allowed one shot from Talladega.
- For the second half, neither side could produce any offense until the Lady Barons scored for the 6-0 lead. Melia Cunningham scored a tap-in goal off a cross from Pickering.
- In the 79th minute, Miglio broke through off a corner from Michele Benitez-Marquez to gather the hat trick and the 7-0 lead.
- Within a minute later, Chelsea Frederick scored from distance to move the scoreline to 8-0. Cunningham passed on to Frederick who netted the goal from 18 yards out and over the Tornadoes' goalkeeper.
- De Gannes closed out the scoring in the 83rd minute to give BPC the 9-0 lead off the corner from Benitez-Marquez.
- In the second half, Brewton-Parker outshot Talladega 16-1.
