New Orleans, LA — The Lady Barons wrapped up its two-match road trip Saturday afternoon, falling 10-1 to Xavier University of Louisiana. The loss moves the Lady Barons to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Xavier opened the scoring just one minute into the match and added another goal in the ninth minute to take an early 2-0 advantage. Brewton-Parker answered in the 17th minute when Honey Murphy found the back of the net off a corner kick, with Lena Szydlo picking up the assist to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Gold Nuggets responded with four more goals before halftime to take a 6-1 advantage into the break. Xavier continued its offensive pressure in the second half, adding four goals to close out the match.
Brewton-Parker finished with five shots, putting three on goal. Daria Cwynar led the Lady Barons with two shots, both on target, while Murphy recorded BPCU's lone goal. Laura Marin and Josseline Zamorano each added an attempt.
In goal, Angel Camacho played all 90 minutes and recorded 10 saves as Xavier finished with 27 shots, including 20 on goal.
The Lady Barons will return home on Thursday, Sept. 17, when they host Dalton State College at 5 p.m.
