Barons Stave Off Late Game Rams Surge

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons stood tall, shutting down the late-game offensive surge from the Mobile University Rams on February 7, 202,6 at Gillis Gymnasium, taking home the 61-58 win.

Tommy J. Tisdale III set the tone offensively for Brewton-Parker, finishing with a game-high 19 points on 6-for-14 shooting, including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, along with four rebounds and four assists. His biggest shot came late in the first quarter, when he buried a 3-pointer in the closing seconds to turn a one-point deficit into a 31-30 lead at the break, completing a steady comeback after the Barons trailed by as many as 10 in the opening quarter.

The Barons outrebounded Mobile 33-26, including a 9-6 edge on the offensive glass, with Gil Gonzalez posting a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, five of them offensive, plus two blocks. Abraham Garjah added 13 points and a team-high five assists while going 7-for-10 at the line, repeatedly drawing contact and converting enough free throws to keep the Barons in front despite 13 team turnovers.

Head Coach Leonard Epps reflected on the game, saying. "Not pretty, but we will take it. Another night, not shooting the ball well from the free-throw line, but we found a way. At this point in the season, that's all you want to do is find a way. We talked about getting consecutive stops this game, and we were able to get six kills (1 kill = 3 consecutive stops). I told them that if we get 6, we will win the game! Proud of our guys for being able to bounce back after a tough loss."

The Barons will look to build off their win before going back out on the road to take on the Stallions of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on February 12, 2026, in Tifton, Ga., to start their final road trip of the regular season.
