MOUNT VERNON, Ga. — The Brewton-Parker Men's Soccer team celebrated Senior Day, recognizing the dedication and contributions of its senior class before falling 3-0 to Bob Jones University. The Barons moved to 1-14-1 overall.
Bob Jones opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Jackson Reinhard found the back of the net off an assist from Fiston Issa, giving the visitors an early 1-0 advantage.
Despite the early deficit, Brewton-Parker continued to create offensive opportunities, recording six shots in the opening half. The Barons entered halftime trailing by one goal.
Bob Jones extended its lead in the 62nd minute as Reinhard scored his second goal of the afternoon, assisted by Solomon Leaman. Just over a minute later, David Issa converted a penalty kick to secure the 3-0 final.
Brewton-Parker finished with 11 shots, including seven on goal. Aitor Novoa led the Barons with four shots, all on target, while goalkeeper Diego Carrera played the full 90 minutes in goal.
While the final score did not favor the Barons, the game provided an opportunity to celebrate the student-athletes who have dedicated their time and efforts to the Brewton-Parker men's soccer program.
Prior to kickoff, the Barons honored their senior class, recognizing Diego Carrera, Drew Shaw, Emroy McKenzie, Ilyas Nazih, Simon Angeles, Andre Xavier, and Marqus Bythewood.
The program also recognized Irvin Marin, who were unable to attend the ceremony.
Throughout their time at Brewton-Parker, these student-athletes have contributed to the program through their commitment, leadership, and perseverance, while building friendships and memories that extend beyond the soccer field.
Their contributions were highlighted earlier this season when the Barons earned a memorable 5-4 victory over No. 3-ranked Tennessee Southern, a significant achievement for the program.
Brewton-Parker Christian University Athletics thanks its seniors for their dedication to the Barons and wishes them continued success in their future endeavors.
The Barons will return to action on Thursday, October 22, when they travel to Cuthbert, Georgia, to face Andrew College.
