MOBILE, Ala. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons kicked off the conference game with an even-paced match with the Mobile University (Ala.) Rams at Pharr Gym on January 17, 2026. Both teams traded leads, but the Barons' second-half surge carried them back into the win column to take the game 90-77 and improve their record to 14-4 and 6-2 in conference.
Â
Jadon Melvin headlined the offensive effort with a perfect shooting night, finishing with 21 points on 8-for-8 from the field and 5-for-5 from beyond the arc in just 17 minutes. His 3-pointer with 10:31 remaining helped push Brewton-Parker out in front 54–50 and marked the beginning of a decisive stretch in which the Barons consistently answered every Mobile push.
Â
Up 54–50 after Melvin's make, Brewton-Parker continued to build momentum with balanced scoring and efficient half-court execution. Jayden Hill added 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting, including 3-for-6 from deep, while also grabbing six rebounds and handing out two assists in 37 minutes. Inside and in transition, the Barons steadily expanded the gap, highlighted by a late layup from Jakobe Jones that extended the lead to 82–70 with 2:34 to play, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Â
Head Coach Leonard Epps shared his thoughts following the game, saying, "When going on the road for a pair, you would love to win them both, but a split isn't bad, especially playing in the SSAC! Our guys showed a lot of grit tonight, bouncing back after a tough loss on Thursday. We get some much-needed rest before our next conference battle on the road next week. All I can say is I'm proud of my guys!"
Â
The Barons' win helped keep them in control as they prepare for one of the most difficult road stretches of the season. The Barons leave to take on the SSAC Western Conference leader on January 22, 2026, when they take on the Crusaders of William Carey University (Miss.) in Hattiesburg, Miss.Â
