Barons Fall Short To #23 Crusaders

HATTIESBURG, MISS. -  In a thrilling conference showdown in Hattiesburg Miss. the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons fell short to the Crusaders of William Carey University on January 22, 2026. The Barons' second-half surge cut the lead, but it was not enough to overcome the standout play on both sides of the floor by the Crusaders, who took the game 79-71.

After trailing by just one at halftime and pulling ahead briefly early in the second half, Brewton-Parker stayed within striking distance until the closing minutes. The Barons trailed only 70–69 after a layup by Jakobe Jones with 2:24 remaining, but William Carey answered at the foul line and closed on a 9–2 run to seal the outcome.

The Barons were led by Abraham Garjah, who put up 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists, helping keep the Barons in the game all night long. The Barons also saw key contributions from Tommy J Tisdale III, who dropped 17 points and pulled down six boards, and Gil Gonzalez, who dominated the glass, grabbing 14 rebounds and adding seven points to keep the game close.

Head Coach Leonard Epps shared his thoughts on the team's performance. "All conference games are tough and even tougher to win on the road! We will bounce back and look to split the road trip. Our guys are positive, and we will be okay."

The Barons will look to salvage the roadtrip with a split against their next opponent on January 24, 2026. The Barons head to New Orleans to face off against the Wolf Pack of Loyola University as they look to get back in the win column.
