Barons Soar Over Night Hawks

MOUNT VERNON, Ga.  - Powered by a sharp-shooting backcourt and a dominant second-half surge, Brewton-Parker Christian University defeated Thomas University (Ga.) 83–71 on January 10, 2026, at Gillis Gymnasium.

The Barons turned a tight first half into a comfortable win by outscoring Thomas 46–36 after the break, using a decisive run early in the second half to seize control. Leading 37–35 at halftime, Brewton-Parker opened the final 20 minutes with efficient offense and timely stops, stretching the margin into double digits and never allowing Thomas to threaten seriously down the stretch.

Jayden Hill led the way with a game-high 29 points on 10-for-21 shooting, including 6-for-12 from 3-point range, while adding five rebounds in 33 minutes. Hill set the tone early with a 3-pointer at the 19:39 mark of the first half to give Brewton-Parker a 3–2 edge, and he continued to hit from deep as the game progressed. His 3-pointer with 15:22 remaining in the second half pushed the Barons' lead to 52–42 as Brewton-Parker began to pull away, and his dunk in the closing seconds capped the scoring at 83–71.

Abraham Garjah gave the Barons a crucial all-around effort with 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting to go with five rebounds and a team-high six assists in 37 minutes. Garjah opened the second half with a driving layup at the 19:35 mark to extend the lead to 39–35 and repeatedly initiated offense, including the assist on Hill's key 3-pointer during the early second-half run. Tommy J. Tisdale III added 14 points, hitting 2-of-5 from beyond the arc and going 4-for-4 at the foul line, while also contributing five assists and four steals in 38 minutes as Brewton-Parker's perimeter group controlled the pace.

Head Coach Leonard Epps shared his thoughts on his team's performance, saying, "I give a lot of credit to Thomas; they made us play a different way today. But I was proud of our guys for how they fought and put together two halves of basketball! Anytime you can win three games in five days, you don't care what it looks like and just find a way!

The Barons now prepare for a difficult road trip, taking on two strong conference opponents next week as they look to defend their 13-3 and 5-1 record. The Barons' first test will be against Faulkner University (Ala.) on January 15, 2026, before facing Mobile University (Ala.).
