MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons' men's wrestling team took down the Rochester Christian University Warriors in a thrilling match at Gillis Gymnasium on December 16, 2025. The Barons dominated with terrific wrestling, taking the dual 34-13.
The Barons started the match with a bang, winning the 125 lbs match. Stunnar Hutchinson got a fall in just over the sixth-minute mark of the match. The Barons lost the 133lbs matchup with the Warriors, by technical fall. David Little gained the momentum back for the Barons, taking home the 141 lbs matchup after his opponent had to default due to injury. Blake Walker gained a fall in the 149lbs showdown, keeping the Barons' hot streak going. Arthur Reed wrestled to an overtime victory, claiming a hard-fought three points in the 157lbs matchup. The Barons suffered their second loss in the 165lbs match, as the Warriors earned a decision to claim three points.
Gailian Wilds wrestled to a major decision in the 174 lbs match to gain the momentum back for the Barons. Followed up by #9 Zahquel Davis, who won via decision in the 184 lbs showdown. Brandon Lively won via fall in the 197 lbs match. The Barons dropped the heavyweight matchup, and the Warriors grabbed their final points of the dual, ending with a fall to claim their last six points.
Head Coach Tyler Smith shared his thoughts on his team's performance. "It was a great showing at home, especially after a disappointing outing this weekend. Proud of our guys for showing up and allowing me to coach them hard!"
The Barons are on the road one last time before Christmas. They will compete at the Battle of the Bluegrass in Corbin, KY. Following that match, the Barons will be back in action in the New Year on January 8, 2026, taking on Truett McConnell.
