Barons Cruise to Win Over Eagles

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons men's basketball secured a commanding 101-79 victory over the Baptist University of Florida Eagles at Gillis Gymnasium in a thrilling regular-season clash on December 10, 2025. Led by standout performances from Jayden Hill and Gil Gonzalez, the Barons' win was driven by aggressive offensive strategies and shutdown defense throughout the game.

In the first half, the Barons quickly set the pace as Gil Gonzalez opened the scoring with a powerful dunk, followed by precision three-point shooting from Jayden Hill, who led the team with 22 points. Brewton-Parker gained a considerable early lead, showcasing a dynamic offense that included multiple three-pointers and dunks, symbolized by Jadon Melvin's fast-break dunk off an assist from Abraham Garjah. By the end of the first half, Brewton-Parker had established a dominant 54-28 lead.

The energy surged into the second half, where the Barons continued their impressive form. Jayden Hill was notable for sinking multiple jump shots, while Gonzalez added crucial blocks to his defensive stats, achieving a total of 15 rebounds. Abraham Garjah's fast-break layup further solidified their lead, and despite the opponent's efforts, Brewton-Parker maintained their advantage, ending the game comfortably up 22 points. Additional contributions came from players like Tommy J Tisdale III and Trent Shelton, who rounded out the team's performance with vital points and steals.

Head Coach Leonard Epps shared his thoughts after the game. "I have a ton of respect for the Baptist University of Florida. I thought they outplayed us in the second half. They will be a tough team to beat at the NCCAA level. I thought our guys played well overall, but I give a lot of credit to our 6th man today in the kids and how much noise they made! It was always a goal of mine to have an elementary day game to involve our community and the kids in our area, and I think it ran to perfection. I loved this game for all parties, our players, students, faculty, and staff, but most importantly, the kids and our community! Let's keep it rolling, Go Barons!"

Looking ahead, the Barons will continue their pursuit of success as they prepare to face the College of Coastal Georgia on December 13, 2025, at home. Brewton-Parker is currently holding a strong 9-2 season record, with a 2-1 conference record, reflecting their potential for further achievements this season.
