Barons Fall to Mariners

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In a closely contested basketball encounter at Gillis Gymnasium, the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons fell short against the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners with a final score of 84-91 on December 13, 2025.

The game started strong for the Barons, with Tommy J Tisdale III hitting an early 3-pointer, helping them build a 10-point lead at one point. Jayden Hill's crucial 3-pointer tied the game at 8, pushing the momentum towards Brewton-Parker. The first half ended with the Barons up 40-31 at the break.

The second half saw the Mariners make a significant comeback. The Mariners capitalized on turnovers and trips to the free-throw line. Coastal Georgia then took control in the final five minutes, eventually taking the lead and securing a 91-84 win.

Notable performances included Tommy J Tisdale, who scored 19 points and three rebounds alongside Abraham Garjah, adding 17 points and five assists to the table, with Gil Gonzalez leading in rebounds with nine and securing one steal.

Head Coach Leonard Epps reflected on the team's need to push themselves harder and rely on their teammates off the bench, pushing themselves to exhaustion. The Barons are now gearing up to face the University of West Georgia in an exhibition on December 17, 2025, in Carrollton, GA this will be their final game before the Christmas break.
