Barons' Late Rally Falls Short in Overtime

MOUNT VERNON, Ga - The Barons traveled to Thomasville to take on the Night Hawks on January 7, 2025, and despite a thrilling back-and-forth game, the Barons could not complete the comeback they started at the end of the first half. The Barons did everything in their power to overcome the deficit they found themselves in, and they tied the game up just before halftime. They even hit a three to take the lead late in the game before the Night Hawks tied the game with under two minutes to go.

The game started with both teams trading chances and leads early on, and both teams were evenly matched. By halftime, the scoreboard read a nail-biting 41-41, with the Barons erasing an eight-point deficit in the final five minutes of the first half. Brewton-Parker displayed remarkable resilience, tying the game with just 41 seconds left before the break. Dre Burroughs shone throughout the game, scoring a team-high 23 points, five rebounds, and a crucial steal.

Two Barons put up double-doubles on the stat sheet; Tommy J Tisdale III contributed significantly with 16 points and a notable 10 rebounds, while Ferlin Joseph Jr. added 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Barons' teamwork was evident, with players like Sam Faraday-Bensley and Kamari Johnson adding vital blocks and rebounds to the defense.

The Barons and Night Hawks found the second half to be much like the first half, with both teams trading chances and remaining tied before going to overtime to decide the winner. Despite Brewton-Parker's best efforts, Brewton-Parker couldn't seal a victory, with the Night Hawks taking the lead in overtime and not giving it up. The Barons now hold a record of 6 wins and 10 losses, with a conference record standing at 2-4.

Looking ahead, the Barons will face Mobile at the Gillis Gymnasium on January 11, 2025. The team looks to bounce back with another conference matchup and get back into the win column.
