MOUNT VERNON, Ga- The Barons traveled to Cochran, Ga. to start off the second half of the season in a tough conference matchup against the Knights of Middle Georgia. The Barons came up short in the game on January 4, 2025 with a final score of 81-97. Despite their collective efforts the Barons were unable to stop the Knights.
The Barons kept the game close in the first half battling and trading scoring chances coming up just short. The Knights had the edge going into half with the lead of 36-44. The Knights, however, elevated their game in the second half, overpowering the Barons with a solid offensive showing and extending their lead to secure the win.
Tommy J Tisdale III led the scoring for the Barons with an impressive 25 points paired with 6 rebounds and a block.
Dre Burroughs and
Grant Sanders also made significant contributions, each adding 15 points to the team's total. Burroughs additionally recorded 2 rebounds and 3 steals, with Sanders contributing 6 rebounds and two blocks.
Ferlin Joseph Jr. also stood out with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 boards while dishing out four assists and blocking one shot.
Looking ahead, the Brewton-Parker Barons will need to regroup quickly as they face Thomas University next in an away game on January 7, 2025, in Thomasville, Ga. The Barons currently hold a record of 6 wins and 9 losses overall, with a 2-3 record in conference play. The upcoming matchup will be another crucial opportunity for the Barons to right the ship and reset before kicking off the remainder of their second half schedule.
