Men's Cross Country Julius Johnson Invitaitonal

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker College Men's Cross Country continued their season with their second race, saw significant improvement from all of their runners, and had the team finish fifth out of fourteen teams in the 2024 8k Julius Johnson Invitational. The team finished with an average time of 28:03 and a score of 159. The team showed great hustle and individually had one runner finish in the top 30 runners. Isaiah Jackson finished 27th with an average mile time of 5:39.4 and a total time of 27:03.9. The Barons showed major improvements and competed against teams from Mercer, Georgia College, Clayton State, Morehouse, Florida Gateway College, and ABAC, to name a few, including runners from some schools who were unable to bring an entire team.

Catching up with Coach James Frank, he shared his thoughts on today's outcome: "The guys' course was actually short, about 250 meters; even converting our times, they had big PRs. It is a tough course. We are super proud of their effort and training in practice these past weeks, and it was clear today that it has paid off. I knew they would run well today and told them as such, and they sure did deliver."

We saw a new finishing order today as Eric Smith finished second for the Barons with a time of 27:32.3, just 31 seconds before Jacob Hackenberry came in third at 28:03.3. Jonas Galli came in fourth with a time of 28:08.8 and the Barons fifth runner Hunter Milhollin finished with a time of 29:28.0 to wrap up the group of averages for Brewton-Parker. The Barons also saw Brandon Williams run close behind Hunter, finishing just 3.6 seconds later. Yusuf Abuukar came in next with a time of 29:35.3. Anthony Ferrie and Zamarvian Green finished with just .2 seconds separating them at 29:54.4. and 29:54.6. Dillion Dorsey, Alan Leon, Dylan Hayes, Gabriel Glover, and Caleb Wilson also ran today for Brewton-Parker and had strong showings. Coach is confident that all of our athletes will continue to improve as the season continues as most of our athletes have never run Cross Country before, instead coming over from Track and Field. The running style has been an adjustment, and we hope to see more PRs keep coming.

The Baron's next opportunity to race will be at the BPC Invitational at home on October 4th.
