MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker College Men's Cross Country team hosted and participated in the BPC Invitational on Friday, October 25, 2024. The BPC Invitational was rescheduled due to Hurricane Helene, and while fewer teams were able to make it, the event hosted runners from Thomas University and Savannah State. The Barons hosted an 8k run on the men's side of the BPC Invitational. The Barons took first place on the men's side as a team, with runners finishing 3rd and 4th in the race on Friday.
Catching up with Coach James Frank, he shared his thoughts on today's outcome: "We were very proud of the team today. Even without 5 of our top 6 runners, the rest of the team stepped up and finished in the top 10,"
Hunter Milhollin and Jacob Hackenberry led the Barons team, finishing just over 16 seconds apart in the race to take 3rd and 4th, respectively. Hunter had a time of 29:15.5, and Jacob finished with a time of 29:36.4. The Barons saw Yusuf Abuukar take 6th place with a time of 30:21.7, and Brandon Williams came in right behind him at 30:26.7. The Barons had stellar showing form their team with Anthony Ferrie finishing 9th with a time of 31:42.7 to give the Barons five of the top ten finishers of the race. Dillan Dorsey, Gabriel Glover, and Dylan Hayes finished 12, 13, and 14 for the Barons. Alan Leon finished in 16th, and Zyon Smalls concluded that the runners for BPC were at 18 in the 8k run.
The Baron's next opportunity to race will be the SSAC Championships on November 7th.
