STATESBORO, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Men's Track & Field returned to Statesboro, Ga. this week and placed first out of two teams at the Georgia Showdown hosted by Georgia Southern.
In the throwing events,
Yabaka Moore took first in the shot put with a throw of 12.78 meters and was followed by
Malik Brown (2nd, 12.63m),
Kohlman Greer (3rd, 11.41m), and
Noah Woodard (4th, 9.97m). In the discus, Greer took first with a throw of 39.29 meters and was followed by Brown (2nd, 38.84m), Moore (3rd, 32.90m),
Dan Smith (4th, 32.39m),
Talon Walker (5th, 32.34m), and Woodard (6th, 31.97).
In the hammer throw, Smith produced a 40.65-meter throw for first place. Smith was followed by Greer (2nd, 40.04m), Brown (3rd, 37.87m), and Woodard (4th, 36.21m). For the javelin throw, Walker got the first-place finish with a throw of 43.90 meters. Greer followed in second with a throw of 41.85 meters and was followed by
Donta' Williams (3rd, 36.90m),
Malachi Williams (4th, 34.85m), and
Bradley Taylor (5th, 26.87m).
In the jumps, Williams produced a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.60 meters and
Derrick Reid took second with a mark of 5.42 meters. In the high jump,
Errol Quallo cleared 1.86 meters for first place and was followed by Walker in second with a clearance of 1.66 meters.
Yusuf Abuukar and Williams took joint first and second in the pole vault with clearances of 2.60 meters. Reid took third with a mark of 2.45 meters and Walker produced a jump of 2.30 meters for fourth place.
On the track,
Travis Massey competed in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.83 seconds. Taylor ran the 110-meter hurdles in 15.90 seconds. Quallo took first in the 400 meters with a time of 49.31 seconds and
John Stokes followed in third with a time of 55.86 seconds. Abuukar finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.08.
Jordan Hackett took fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.06 in the 1,500 meters,
Anthony Ferrie took third with a time of 4:40.86, while
Trey Reid ran a 5:04.65 for fifth place.
Brandon Williams took sixth with a time of 5:13.89.
DeMario Thomas took first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:21.93. Thomas was followed by
Eric Smith (2nd, 10:44.17)
Jonah Galli (3rd, 10:55.39), and
Hunter Milhollin (4th, 12:06.90).
DJ Christensen gathered second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:29.51 and was followed by
Jacob Hackenberry in third with a time of 16:50.39.
The team of
Sean Williams,
Hollis Morton, Massey, and Williams completed the 4x100 meters with a time of 41.85 seconds. The 4x400 team of Quallo, Morton, Williams, and Williams completed the race in 3:39.33.
