WICHITA, Kan. – Brewton-Parker College Men's Wrestling had two athletes travel to Wichita, Kan. for opening day action at the 67th Annual NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championships.
Wilkinson Saul went 2-1 to advance to the second day of action while Houston ended his season going 1-2.
Sean Houston wrestled in the 165-pound division and started his day dropping a 17-6 major decision to the seven-seed Braeden Baller from Texas Wesleyan. In the second match, Houston secured a 12-2 major decision over No. 10 Kevon Freeman of Ottawa (Kan.). In the third match, Houston fell to injury default against the No. 9 Jordan Komac from Providence (Mont.).
Saul started his day in the 285-pound weight class with a 6-3 decision over No. 13 Jacob Vincent from Simpson (Calif.), before falling in a 15-0 tech fall to No. 4 Gabe Jacobs from Southeastern (Fla.). In the second round of consolations, Saul took down Gavin Harper of Reinhardt (Ga.) in a 5-3 sudden victory to move on to day two.
