Barons Compete at Missouri Valley Invitational

MARSHALL, Mo. -  The Brewton-Parker Christian University men's wrestling team traveled to Marshall, Missouri, to compete in the Missouri Valley Invitational. The Barons competed against some of the top competition in the NAIA on January 23-24, 2026, including multiple top-25-ranked wrestlers and former National Qualifiers.

The Barons had standout performances from Arthur Reed, who went 2-2 on the day in the 149 lbs division. Kullum Irvin went 1-2 on the day in the 141 lbs division. Blake Walker went 1-2 on the day in the 149 lbs division. Justin Whitney also grabbed a 1-2 day in the 157 lbs matches. The Barons also saw Gailan Wilds grab a win to go 1-2 against some terrific competitors in the 174 lbs division. 

Sean Houston led the way for the Barons, taking home a 6th-place finish. Houston's only loss came to the eventual champ and #24-ranked wrestler from Marian University. He was 6-1 over the span of the two days and had wins over #10-ranked Mustafa (SEU) and #22 Ross (Marian). 

The Barons are back in action on January 30, 2026, in Mount Vernon, Ga. The Barons will host their senior night when they face Reinhardt University in their final home dual of the year.
