GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Brewton-Parker Men's Track and Field competed in the Celebration Point Classic in Gainesville, Fla. this weekend.
How It Happened | Day One
Opening day was highlighted by three athletes getting top-10 finishes in the weight throw.
Kohlman Greer picked up fourth with a throw of 13.24 meters and was followed by
Malik Brown in fifth with a mark of 13.18 meters and
Yabaka Moore in eighth with a mark of 12.91 meters.
Noah Woodard gathered a 14th-place finish with a throw of 9.44 meters.
In the triple jump,
Derrick Reid gathered a fifth-place finish with a mark of 11.61 meters.
On the track,
Eric Smith picked up a time of 19:43.66 in the 3,000-meter race walk for second place.
Jordan Hackett gathered a 10th-place finish in the 1,000-meter race with a time of 2:49.97.
The DMR team of
Jonah Galli,
Sean Williams,
Anthony Ferrie, and
Jacob Hackenberry ended the day with a new school record of 11:13.94 for second place.
Talon Walker competed in the heptathlon, scoring 2,016 points on the first day of events. Walker took eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.99s, followed by eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.89 meters. In the shot put, Walker threw 10.49 meters to take third place, followed by a 1.74-meter clearance in the high jump for first place.
How It Happened | Day Two
On the track,
Errol Quallo picked up a 12th-place finish in the 400-meter race with a time of 50.73 seconds. In the 60-meter hurdles,
Yusuf Abuukar ran 9.55 seconds for ninth place, while
Bradley Taylor secured 10th place with a time of 9.82 seconds.
In the jumps,
Donta' Williams gathered a 14th-place finish with a jump of 5.87 meters in long jump. Quallo also picked up eighth place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.83 meters.
In the shot put, Moore and Brown tied for 12th place, with throws of 11.87m, and were followed by Greer with an 11.74-meter throw for 14th.
Walker continued the heptathlon, picking up ninth place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 13.04 seconds. Walker took fifth in the pole vault with a 2.25-meter clearance and ninth in the 1,000-meter with a time of 4:22.15. Walker finished in eighth place overall with 2,413 points.
