STATESBORO, Ga. – Brewton-Parker men's track and field competed at the Georgia Southern Classic on Saturday with hopes to produce some national qualifying marks for the NAIA National Championship.
The Barons earned a first place finish out of three teams in the men's portion of the event, recording a total of 190 team points. Nearly every Baron competing earned team points in their respective events on Saturday.
In the 100m and 200m dash events,
NiShawn Wise led the way. Wise notched third in the 200m event with a time of 21.80s and produced fourth in the 100m with a time of 10.90s. Troy Cristopher led the 400m event with a second-place finish and a time of 52.34s while Jabril Muhammad secured second in the 800m race with a time of 2:00.56. Muhammad also notched first in the 1,500m race with a time of 4:29.43.
Eric Smith was the lone Baron in the 3,000m steeplechase, earning third with a time of 10:43.97.
As for the jumps,
Ethan Hammett earned first in the long jump with a mark of 6.41m while also notching second in the high jump with a mark of 1.95m.
Jacob Worrell secured first in the triple jump with a mark of 12.80m.
For the throwing events,
Malik Brown led the way. Brown notched second in the shot put with a mark of 12.50m followed by fourth in the discus with a toss of 38.02m as well as sixth in the hammer with a throw of 36.47m. Lastly, Worrell finished third in the javelin with a mark of 44.90m.
