Men’s Track & Field Tops the Team Standings After Day One at SSAC Championship

MOBILE, Ala. – Brewton-Parker men's track & field completed the opening day at the SSAC Outdoor Championship in Mobile, Alabama.

The Barons finished atop of the team standings ahead of William Carey (Miss.) by four points, holding a team total of 51 points for first place.

Kohlman Greer's performances in the hammer and discus was the highlight of the day, placing second in the hammer while finishing third in the discus. Greer tossed for 41.55m in the hammer while tossing 40.22m in the discus. Ryder Sasser also finished with a podium placement, earning second in the high jump with a mark of 1.84m.

As for the rest of the throwers, Malik Brown notched third in the hammer with a mark of 37.21m followed by a sixth-place finish in the hammer with a mark of 38.80m. Kanye Fouch finished fourth in the hammer with a toss of 36.93m while also finishing seventh in the discus with a throw of 38.50m. Lastly, Daniel Smith finished fifth in the hammer with a throw of 35.81m followed by a toss of 33.28m for 11th in the discus.

Sasser competed in the long jump alongside Mason Nielsen. Sasser recorded a mark of 5.97m for 11th followed by Nielsen in 14th with a mark of 5.35m. The 4x800m relay team finished in fifth with Jabril Muhammad, Chris Smith, Eric Smith, and DeMario Thomas recording a time of 8:26.31 for four team points.

In the 110m hurdles prelims, three Barons earned top-ten finishes. Bradley Taylor led with a fifth-place finish and a time of 15.56s while Calab Williams finished in sixth with a time of 15.79. Garrett Ross wrapped up the event in seventh with a time of 16.07s.

In the 10,000m race, Briley Reyes finished in sixth with a time of 38:00.40 followed by Jacob Hackenberry in seventh with a time of 39:24.76. Lastly for the 100m and 200m prelims, NiShawn Wise led with a ninth-place finish in the 100m with a time of 10.83s while racing a rime of 22.36s in the 200m for 11th.
