CARROLLTON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker men's track & field traveled to the campus of the University of West Georgia in Carrollton to compete in the UWG Legends Invitational on Saturday.
The Barons produced at least one top-15 placement in a total of 12 events on the day with 16 top-ten finishes.
Nathaniel Shields earned the highest placement with a 4.27m mark in the pole vault for second place.
Ethan Hammett and
Jacob Worrell both notched fourth in their respective events to follow Shields.
Hammett recorded a mark of 1.92m in the high jump while Worrell threw a mark of 41.27m in the javelin.
Kohlman Greer secured the final top-five placement for BPC with a throw of 37.50m for fifth in the hammer.
NiShawn Wise and
Ty'Sheem Denton finished 9th and 13th in the 100m dash, respectively. Wise recorded a time of 11.05s while Denton ran for a time of 11.13s. As for the 110m hurdles,
Me'khi Gibson finished sixth with a time of 15.96s followed by
Garrett Ross in eighth with a finish of 16.20s.
Calab Williams also ran a time of 16.21s for ninth.
Both Wise and Denton produced top-10 times in the 200m dash. Wise led with a finish of 22.36s for eighth while Denton finished with a time of 22.45s for ninth. Ross also competed in the 400m hurdles alongside
Bradley Taylor. Ross ran for a time of 58.96s for sixth while Taylor recorded a time of 1:05.72 for 14th. Jabril Muhammad finished 11th in the 800m run with a time of 2:01.21.
For the throws,
Kanye Fouch earned ninth in the hammer throw with a 34.12m mark followed by
Daniel Smith's 12th-place finish with a throw of 32.17m. Lastly,
Malik Brown finished 13th with a toss of 31.55m.
Brown also competed in the shotput, earning a 12th-place finish with a throw of 12.20m. Greer threw for 32.88m in the javelin for 14th while
Jace Upshur finished 15th with a throw of 32.52m.
Lastly, for the jumps, Ryder Sasser and
Bobby Terrell competed beside Hammett in the high jump. Sasser utilized a performance of 1.82m to earn sixth while Terrell produced 10th with a jump of 1.77m. Worrell notched 11th in the long jump with a mark of 6.24m while also competing in the triple jump, producing an eighth-place finish with a mark of 12.73m. Usphur finished 10th with a 12.29m mark followed by
Mason Nielsen in 12th with a mark of 12.12m and
Derrick Reid in 13th with a mark of 11.67m.
